The Ferguson Fire burned on the Sierra National Forest on the edge of Yosemite National Park for several weeks at the start of the 2018 fire season. A week into the fire the thick plume can be seen from Highway 41 inside the park. For safety and operational reasons Yosemite Park was eventually closed for several weeks.
