I captured this surreal moment on the Hummingbird Fire in 2008. This small fire in Morgan Hill, CA was burning on the hill behind a friend’s house and in the morning of the second day I hiked over to see what was happening. This fire crew had just lit a back fire off the road behind all the houses. I saw this row of chairs lining the edge of the field and it just looked a bit absurd to me.
